Greetings Retiree’s and Spouses:

Vote November 7

It is essential that as UAW retirees we get out and vote on November 7th.

Remember you can vote by Absentee Ballot, contact us if you need an Absentee Ballot.

Our future truly depends on it !  Every day corporations are trying to take health benefits away from retiree’s like ourselves.

Our Health care system in the U.S. is a mess. The number of Americans without health insurance has risen to over 45 million. We are fortunate that we have the coverage that the UAW negotiated for us.

But how long can we keep it with the pro-business congress we have now?

We must support candidates who are for the working man and woman and for retiree’s.

Corporations have bought the legislation that they want.

The number of registered lobbyists in Washington is over 34750.

The lobbying boom has been caused by three factors, experts say: rapid growth in government, Republican control of both the White House and Congress, and wide acceptance among corporations that they need to hire professional lobbyists to secure their share of federal benefits.

Political historians don't see these as positive developments for democracy. "We've got a problem here," said Allan Cigler, a political scientist at the University of Kansas. "The growth of lobbying makes even worse than it is already the balance between those with resources and those without resources."

For those of you who think the present administration is conservative, look at the numbers:

The Outstanding Public Debt as of 14 Oct 2006 at 06:47:00 PM GMT is: $8,549,683,143,057.38

The estimated population of the United States is 299,695,111 so each citizen's share of this debt is $28,527.94. The National Debt has continued to increase an average of $1.63 billion per day since September 30, 2005!

In Allen County, Indiana  the UAW has endorsed  Dr. Tom Hayhurst for Congress in the

3rd District.. Dr. Tom Hayhurst knows Health Care, he practiced medicine in Fort Wayne for over 30 years.

Quote from Dr. Tom Hayhurst :” I believe it is time to start a quiet revolution in the halls of Congress. It is time to turn the Washington-insiders out and put the focus back on the people, like you, who work hard and play by the rules. A one-question benchmark should be the test for nearly every measure that Congress considers: Is this bill good for the working families of America ?
