Insurance:

You have received many different mailings from International Truck, Aetna, and Secova this year and it has been confusing.

Secova is the company International Truck hired to determine if dependent coverage is accurate. I have heard that hundreds and hundreds of dependents were still showing on the International Truck rolls that no longer are alive. There wouldn’t have been claims sent in for these persons but the larger number represents a much larger liability to International Truck when they estimate their possible costs and hold money in reserve for coverage for those persons that no longer are covered dependents.

Only retirees with surviving spouses or dependents received audit papers from Secova.

If you haven’t already filled out the audit and sent in a copy of your last years federal tax return and have dependents, contact Secova at 1-888-886-2583 and tell them you have dependents and need paperwork to fill out.

Failure to do so will eliminate your dependents from your medical plan with International Truck.

For those Medicare eligible retirees you probably received a survey to fill out asking questions like: When did you work last, who is you other employers insurance with etc. For most of us these questions do not apply. I have advised our retirees who do not work elsewhere to simply write “retired “ on these questions and send it back in.

Aetna/Medicare is now the medical card you must show for services if you are Medicare eligible.

This has caused a lot of confusion in these first 3 months of 2007.

In the Fort Wayne area most medical providers are now familiar with the procedure. In some other areas, particularly Florida, it has been more difficult. If the provider sends the billing to Medicare then they and you get a paper back from Medicare saying you are in an HMO. You are NOT in an HMO and the paperwork must be sent to Aetna/Medicare by the provider. If the provider does not understand what to do there are phone numbers on the back of your Aetna/Medicare card to use.

For providers the number is: 1-800-624-0756.

For retirees to question the new plan the number is 1-800-635-2095.

$200.00 Deductible

Do NOT pay any doctors or providers any money until you get your paperwork from Aetna telling you what THEY applied to your deductible. Aetna will apply the negotiated prices first and will note to you Aetna explanation of Benefits (EOB) how much if any has been applied to your deductible. Aetna will have the amounts you owe posted under the deductible column of the EOB. Also they show a running total at the end of the EOB telling you when all of your deductibles have added up to the $ 200.00 limit.

Some retirees think if they pay bills to the first few providers of the new year that they have met their deductible for the year. This is not the way it works…Aetna must be the one telling you who to pay and how much.   If you have any questions give us a call.
